The Sixth International Conference on Ancient Helike and Aigialeia (HELIKE VI) took place in Aigion, Achaea, from 4-6 September 2021. The main theme of the Conference was the history, archaeology and geology of Helike and its area after the 373 BC catastrophic earthquake, and the new settlement developed in late Classical-Hellenistic times including a building complex of excellently preserved workshops associated with textile activities.
The Conference follows up in a series of International Conferences organised by the Helike Society and held at certain intervals in the region of Aigialeia, Achaea.
The Helike VI Conference included scientific announcements, experimental archaeology exhibitions related to ancient spinning/dyeing/weaving and fulling techniques in collaboration with SEN Heritage Looms of Athens, exhibition of paintings on textiles by a local painter, cultural events and a guided tour to the Helike area and the archaeological site.
