This book was conceived as a commemorative volume for Professor Marek Wilczyński - an outstanding historian of antiquity, teacher, and mentor - and was originally intended to be presented to him on the occasion of his 65th birthday. The collected articles, arranged chronologically - from the 3rd Dynasty of Ur to modern times - address topics closely related to the professor’s research interests, particularly the barbarian peoples within the borders of the Roman Empire and issues of late antique administration.
